Fantasy Marketplace: Week 4

Market Price. ACE Value. Your Next Move. Four trade conversations worth having—and the price that should end each one.

Four Fantasy Marketplace decisions in a broadcast-inspired value board
01

Market Snapshot

Box scores have a habit of demanding a promotion after one good Sunday. Before paying for one, compare the price with the opportunity a player is likely to keep. This first Marketplace edition uses Tuesday’s verified rest-of-season expected-value model and the dated half-PPR price proxy. It does not claim Wednesday waiver results or a finished Week 4 weekly board.

ACE means Actionable Competitive Edge: the forecast helps frame a move, while the offer, replacement starter and reversal checkpoint decide whether that move helps your lineup. Our projected active-game points exclude the bye denominator; the total points still reflect expected missed or limited games. Every market number below is a chart unit, not a fantasy point or guaranteed sale price.

Rank distances are ordinal; WR13 versus WR19 is not six identical points of value. The CBS chart and ACE projections use different scales and are never subtracted from each other. Price bands are illustrative named comparables, not observed offer ranges.

What the Price Is Missing

Rome Odunze · Buy only at a disciplined cost

Evidence: Odunze ran 31 of 35 charted Chicago routes Monday. Luther Burden III earned 11 official targets on 27 routes. The spike matters, but one game does not establish a durable healthy target-order reversal. ACE projects Odunze at 162.4 points over 14 expected playable games (11.6 active PPG), versus 145.6 and 10.4 for Burden. We prefer the route lead while checking another comparable game.

Offer: Burden for Odunze straight if the other manager wants the target spike. Do not attach a useful starter to make the proxy numbers balance. Fit: a manager swapping one WR2 or Flex slot; pass if both already start for you. Confidence: moderate projection, low price. Reversal: Burden sustains a target-earning lead without losing routes.

Rashee Rice · Hold or ask, without paying a second starter

Evidence: ACE projects 168.2 points over 14 expected playable games, about 12.0 active PPG. The chart puts Rice slightly below Davante Adams. Adams’ 13 Week 3 targets came with Puka Nacua out and do not certify the same share when both Rams receivers play.

Offer: An Adams-only inquiry is the most to test under this proxy; cover Rice’s Week 5 bye versus Adams’ Week 11 bye and check your replacement receiver first. Fit: a roster with receiver depth. Confidence: moderate projection, low price. Reversal: Rice’s route share slips or a healthy Rams offense confirms Adams retains the lead.

Ollie Gordon II · Bench-cost opportunity, not a workhorse invoice

Evidence: De’Von Achane’s absence opens work, but Gordon’s 61 snaps, 28 routes, three charted targets and 17 designed carries were whole-game Week 3 totals with Jaylen Wright inactive. The ACE RB19 forecast projects 158.2 points over 14 expected playable games, or 11.3 active PPG; Miami has a Week 6 bye. It assumes a committee opportunity; it does not establish the healthy split.

Offer: Test a replaceable bench-back exchange within the chart’s modest tier. A Jaylen Wright straight proposal is an example of negotiation, not an accepted trade or an assertion that both roles are equal. Fit: a deep bench that can absorb Miami uncertainty. Confidence: lower projection and low price. Reversal: Wright practices fully and takes more rushing or passing work.

Puka Nacua · Hold, but demand an injury discount to buy

Evidence: ACE projects 148.7 points over 13.5 expected playable games, about 11.0 active PPG. The model prices missed time and a return ramp, while the CBS proxy still places Nacua in a premium WR tier. He may beat that forecast when healthy; McVay’s September 28 optimism is not clearance.

Offer: No premium buy at the proxy tier before the Rams’ practice and workload evidence. A manager already holding him should not sell for a panic discount. Fit: patient rosters with a playable weekly substitute. Confidence: lower near-term availability and low price. Reversal: full practice and normal routes restore the healthy ceiling.

The Lineup Receipt

Take a hypothetical 12-team half-PPR roster in which Burden fills exactly one WR2 slot and Odunze would replace him there. The other starters stay fixed, neither player occupies a second Flex spot, no extra asset or drop is involved, and identical replacement production during their shared Chicago Week 10 bye cancels from the comparison. For this fixed WR2-slot direct swap, Odunze’s projected advantage is 11.6 − 10.4 = 1.2 points per active game, or (162.4 − 145.6) ÷ 15 = about 1.1 points per scoring week across Weeks 4–18. This is a direct-swap estimate, not an optimized whole-roster gain or a universal trade return.

If the actual offer includes another starter, changes your Flex options, requires a drop, or your league ends in Week 17, rerun the legal lineup week by week. No deal: keep Burden instead of adding a useful starter merely to satisfy an expert chart.

Save any actual league offer with its date, scoring, every asset and open roster slot before calling it a market sale. Revisit after official Week 4 practice reports and again after the games. The comparison here uses a Week 18 finish; a Week 17 playoff league needs its own horizon.

Price is a starting point. The lineup is the receipt.

Ask on Odunze at a straight receiver swap. Keep Rice unless the return clears the lineup math. Price Gordon as a committee bet, and make Nacua’s buyer pay attention to the injury clock. A chart can open the negotiation; it cannot set your starting lineup for you.
