Kyler Murray Clears Protocol and Will Start Week 3
Murray is back for Week 3, Carson Wentz returns to the bench and Minnesota's normal passing baseline is restored. The status changes; the ROS projection was already prepared for it.

What changed Monday
Kyler Murray cleared the NFL concussion protocol, and Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed that he will start Sunday against Tampa Bay. Carson Wentz returns to the backup role after starting Week 2.
This is a confirmed availability reversal, not merely a positive practice note. It removes the Week 3 quarterback contingency and restores the Vikings' normal offensive baseline.
The opportunity effect
| Player or unit | Week 3 allocation | Fantasy effect |
|---|---|---|
| Kyler Murray | Approximately 30–34 attempts plus 4–6 carries | Start in one-QB and Superflex formats, subject to a normal practice week |
| Justin Jefferson | Routes and first-read role remain intact | Full WR1 treatment; efficiency and touchdown equity return to the healthy-offense baseline |
| Jordan Addison | Normal perimeter route share with improved downfield efficiency | Returns to the matchup-dependent WR3/Flex conversation |
| T.J. Hockenson | Normal short-area and seam-route role | Hold; Murray's return improves catchable-target quality without manufacturing extra routes |
| Carson Wentz | Backup snaps only unless Murray has a setback | Drop in one-QB; hold only as a deep Superflex contingency |
The exact ACE call
| Player | Previous | Current | Direction, horizon and comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kyler Murray | ROS QB21 · overall 115 | ROS QB21 · overall 115 | Unchanged versus the Sept. 21, 12:10 PM edition; confidence rises Moderate → High |
| Carson Wentz | Week 2 QB22 | Week 2 result locked; Week 3 backup | The weekly starter status reverses, but no Week 3 ACE board existed to rerank |
Murray remains projected for 15 remaining games, 15.9 points per active game and 238.5 ROS points. Those inputs already assumed that the Week 2 absence was complete and that he could return for Week 3, so adding another points bump would count the same good news twice. The meaningful model change is confidence, not volume.
The exact fantasy action
Use him as a normal Week 3 starter if he completes the practice week without symptoms or a new restriction.
The spot-start value has expired. Keep him only in deeper Superflex leagues where direct quarterback contingencies matter.
Jefferson, Addison and Hockenson regain the healthy-quarterback efficiency baseline; no route-share change is required.
A symptom recurrence, practice downgrade or unexpected snap restriction would reopen the contingency.
Confidence and the revision trigger
Confidence is high in Murray's Week 3 availability and high that Wentz returns to the backup role. The recommendation changes only if Murray reports recurring symptoms, is downgraded during the practice week or Minnesota announces an unexpected limitation.
