Sunday Final Call: Week 3 Lineup Decisions Before the Inactives
Sunday is not the time to discover your backup plan was vibes. Lock in healthy points, preserve the right late pivots and wait for official inactives only when the roster can survive the wait.

The five decisions that matter first
| Player | Verified status | Exact action | Roster protection | Next checkpoint | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caleb Williams | OUT · hamstring · Monday | Sit / Hold | Use a healthy Sunday QB; do not wait for Chicago | Official Week 4 practice report | High |
| Puka Nacua | DOUBTFUL · hip · Sunday night | Sit in planning / Hold | Start a healthy replacement before that player locks | Sunday night inactives | High on the replacement plan |
| Brock Bowers | QUESTIONABLE · knee · Sunday late | Monitor / Hold | Use a healthy TE unless active with a normal-role report | Sunday late inactives | Low on workload |
| Zay Flowers | QUESTIONABLE · hamstring · Sunday late | Monitor / Hold | Use a healthy WR3 unless active with a normal-role report | Sunday late inactives | Moderate |
| Dallas Goedert | OUT · knee · Monday | Sit / Hold | Terrance Ferguson first; Zach Ertz only after elevation | Eagles transaction report | High on absence |
Williams is out; Chicago’s starter is still uncertain
Caleb Williams is officially out Monday with a hamstring injury. He is a Week 3 sit and a redraft hold, not a drop. Chicago listed Tyson Bagent questionable after he returned to a full Saturday practice while working through the concussion protocol; Case Keenum could start if Bagent cannot play.
Exact action: In one-quarterback leagues, start the best healthy Sunday option rather than waiting. In Superflex, Bagent is a conditional QB2 only after Chicago confirms he is active and starting. If Bagent starts, our Week 3 rankings put Rome Odunze at WR61, Luther Burden III at WR28 and Colston Loveland at TE28. Those rankings reflect the catches and yards we expect with Bagent at quarterback.
Philadelphia clears the stars and removes the tight end
Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith have no game designation and are startable on their existing merits. Dallas Goedert is out. Philadelphia's addition of Zach Ertz to the practice squad creates a possible Monday bridge, but an expected elevation is not the same as a confirmed active role.
Exact action: Sit and hold Goedert. Dalton Schultz is now locked; Terrance Ferguson remains a later streaming alternative. Use Ertz only in deeper formats after Philadelphia elevates him and when a Monday-only contingency is actually useful. The vacated routes and targets are not assigned entirely to Smith or Ertz; the completed team projection distributes the opportunity across the active offense.
The late-window trap: active is not the same as full speed
Brock Bowers is questionable after a planned Friday DNP following two limited practices. Zay Flowers is questionable after returning to a limited Friday practice. Each can be active without carrying the full workload his name normally implies.
An active designation tells you they can play; it does not tell you how much they will play. Start Bowers or Flowers when the latest reporting supports their usual workload. If their playing time remains uncertain, choose a healthy alternative with a clearer role.
Puka is a hold, not a Sunday-night gamble
Puka Nacua remains doubtful after missing the practice week. Sean McVay said the Rams expect him back in Week 4 barring a setback. That supports a strong ROS hold and a Week 3 replacement plan, not a desperation start.
Exact action: Start a healthy rostered receiver before that player's lock. Reconsider starting Nacua only after an official upgrade and a clear normal-workload report. Davante Adams is WR3 at 17.49 points; Terrance Ferguson is TE13 at 7.86 points. Those projections assume Nacua sits and Colby Parkinson plays.
Ordered late and Monday pivot board
| Decision | If fully healthy | If limited | If out | Your backup plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brock Bowers · 3:25 PM CT | Active + normal role: start consideration | Active + limited: use the healthy TE | Out: Michael Mayer if active; Terrance Ferguson later | Do not strand the TE slot for name value alone |
| Zay Flowers · 3:25 PM CT | Active + normal role: WR3/Flex | Active + limited: prefer healthy top-35 WR | Out: Rashod Bateman only if active | Keep an eligible receiver whose game has not started |
| Puka Nacua · 7:20 PM CT | Official upgrade + normal role: reconsider | Any restriction: sit | Out: hold Nacua; start Davante Adams (WR3). Terrance Ferguson (TE13) is a streaming option; compare your healthy starter. | A doubtful tag is not a reason to sacrifice an earlier healthy starter |
| Marvin Mims Jr. · 7:20 PM CT | Active + normal role: deep-league Flex only | Limited: sit | Out: sit | Watch for thunderstorms and possible lightning delays; no weather-related downgrade for Mims at this point |
| Tyson Bagent · Monday 7:15 PM CT | Active starter: Superflex only | Active backup: sit | Out: Case Keenum starts | Do not wait in 1QB; preserve a Monday QB only in Superflex |
Weather and the next useful checkpoints
Denver's forecast calls for a chance of thunderstorms around Sunday-night pregame. Lightning could delay the game; rain, wind and field conditions could affect play. We are not lowering player projections for weather at this point. Check the latest stadium forecast and official updates before kickoff. New Orleans is indoors; Chicago's Monday forecast is clear.
10:30–10:35 AM CT: official early inactives and the targeted rankings refresh. Approximately 2:00 PM CT: late-window inactive lists for Bowers and Flowers. Approximately 5:50 PM CT: Rams–Broncos inactives and the final Nacua/Mims decision. The current Sunday board incorporates the official early inactives. Later inactive lists and new injury or workload news can change these recommendations.
The Sunday call
Sit Williams and Goedert. Plan to sit Nacua. Preserve late alternatives for Bowers and Flowers, but do not trade a healthy starter for a famous question mark without a normal-role report.
