Fantasy Leftovers
The claims are finished. Now recover the players who cleared, reclaim the good drops and use Wednesday's injury tree before your league catches up.

Waiver night does not end the market. It changes the price. The best recovery move is often a player who cleared because every manager chased the same headline—or a proven player someone dropped to make room for that headline.
Roster-rate note: Yahoo, ESPN and Sleeper figures below are the latest verified discovery snapshot from Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 3:35 PM CT. Claim processing can move them quickly, so “check live” is part of the recommendation—not missing analysis.
Claim Night Scoreboard
Check these five names before moving to the fallback board. Their order is unchanged from the finalized Waiver Edge because Wednesday’s projection pass confirmed the roles rather than overturning them.
| Player | Pre-claim availability | Action | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Denzel Boston | Yahoo 32%ESPN 26% · Sleeper 43% | Add if he cleared | Still the best blend of immediate routes and season-long growth. Week 3 WR55 versus Carolina; 6.0 ACE points. Confidence: Moderate. Check Wednesday routes and any new veteran addition. |
| Jonah Coleman | Yahoo 27%ESPN 22% · Sleeper 36% | Add / stash | The role remains conditional on Denver's veterans, but the path to early-down and goal-line work is worth a bench spot. Week 3 RB48; 6.0 points. Confidence: Moderate. |
| Dalton Schultz | ESPN 21%Yahoo/Sleeper check live | Add for TE need | Nico Collins' hamstring risk raises middle-of-field targets. Week 3 TE18, up from TE19; 7.2 points. Confidence: Moderate. Reverse if Collins practices fully. |
| Terrance Ferguson | ESPN 27%Yahoo/Sleeper check live | Add / start if needed | Nine Monday targets and 23 routes made him more than a touchdown chase. Week 3 TE12, up from TE17; 7.9 points. Confidence: High on role, Moderate on target repeat. |
| Adonai Mitchell | Yahoo 16%ESPN 17% · Sleeper 13% | Add for upside | The Week 3 model moves him WR65 → WR45 against Detroit. The ceiling beats his floor. Confidence: Moderate; reassess after Wednesday route assignments. |
Failed-Claim Pivots
Do not replace a missed priority with a player who only looks similar by position. Follow the opportunity path.
| If you missed | Pivot order | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Missed Boston | Adonai Mitchell → Rashod Bateman → Malachi Fields | Mitchell offers the best independent ceiling. Bateman becomes a stronger Week 3 play only if Zay Flowers remains limited; Fields is a deeper bench bet. |
| Missed Coleman | Tank Bigsby → Kaleb Johnson → Emanuel Wilson | Bigsby has the best current-use profile. Johnson and Wilson are contingency stashes, not automatic Week 3 starts. |
| Missed Ferguson or Schultz | Zach Ertz → Oronde Gadsden II | Ertz is projected TE28 only if elevated and may split work. Gadsden is the cleaner long-view stash where his role can still grow. |
| Need a Superflex quarterback | Jameis Winston → Marcus Mariota → Michael Penix Jr. | Winston is Week 3 QB12 against Tennessee and owns the best multiweek path. Mariota and Penix are already named starters but are more likely rostered. |
| Need a one-week receiver | Kayshon Boutte / Jaylin Noel → Darius Slayton | Boutte and Noel gain conditional targets if Collins sits. Slayton is only a monitor until Indianapolis shows his route share. |
Mistake Drops to Reclaim
The injury tag can create better pickups than the original waiver pool. These players should not remain available in normal 12-team formats.
| Player | Action | Why the drop is premature |
|---|---|---|
| Puka Nacua | Reclaim immediately | He is probability-weighted at Week 3 WR23, not treated as out. The next checkpoint is Wednesday-Friday practice. |
| Nico Collins | Reclaim / hold | Hamstring risk pushes him to Week 3 WR69, but that is an availability adjustment—not a season-long talent downgrade. |
| Zay Flowers | Reclaim / hold | Week 3 WR39 with a 58% play probability. Bateman and Andrews gain only while Flowers remains limited. |
| Josh Jacobs | Hold; do not start | The standing availability policy excludes him through Week 6 pending verified status news. Keep him only where the roster can absorb the wait. |
| Dallas Goedert | Hold on IR; otherwise team-dependent | The MCL injury removes him from Week 3, but the season-long role remains more valuable than a replacement-level tight end when bench space allows. |
Wednesday Injury Openings
The initial Week 3 board converts each injury into a play probability and then reallocates targets, routes or starts. That prevents an uncertain player from being treated as either fully healthy or automatically out.
| Situation | Beneficiary | Exact move and checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| Jaxson Dart out for the regular season | Jameis Winston | Add immediately in Superflex/2QB. Week 3 QB12 and targeted ROS QB23. Confidence: High on the starting path, Moderate on weekly efficiency. Reassess only if New York adds a starter or materially changes the plan. |
| Nico Collins hamstring | Schultz, Boutte, Noel | Add Schultz first for a TE need. Boutte and Noel are deeper WR pivots. Reverse the redistribution if Collins returns to full practice. |
| Puka Nacua hip | Davante Adams, Ferguson | Adams stays WR18; Ferguson rises TE17 → TE12. Do not drop Nacua. Check each Rams practice before locking the branch. |
| Zay Flowers hamstring | Mark Andrews, Bateman | Andrews rises TE5 → TE3 and is the first target beneficiary. Bateman remains a deeper flex. Flowers' full practice would erase most of the bump. |
| Alec Pierce multiweek heel injury | Michael Pittman Jr., Slayton | Pittman enters Week 3 at WR34. Slayton is a monitor until practice shows a full route assignment. |
| Dallas Goedert MCL | Zach Ertz | Ertz enters at TE28 with an 88% activation probability. Add only if the roster can tolerate a committee role. |
Post-Waiver Trade Windows
Andrews rises Week 2 TE5 → Week 3 TE3. The bet is on concentrated targets, not a permanent change to Flowers’ value.
He stays Week 3 WR18. Sell only for a stable top-12 receiver price; Nacua’s status controls the target ceiling.
Pierce’s multiweek absence raises Pittman’s weekly floor. Buy if the market still prices the completed-game miss rather than the new route tree.
The board carries him at WR23 with a 62% play probability. A full practice would restore a much higher ceiling.
Contingency Stashes
Bigsby has the best independent usability. Johnson and Wilson need a depth-chart event.
Mitchell is the best standalone ceiling. Boutte and Noel depend on Collins remaining out.
Ertz has the nearer opening; Gadsden has the cleaner developmental runway.
Priority in Superflex/2QB; merely a streamer in one-quarterback leagues.
Roster Triage
| Decision | Players | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Add | Boston, Coleman, Schultz, Ferguson, Mitchell | Act on the verified role; match the position to your roster need. |
| Reclaim | Puka, Collins, Flowers | An uncertain Week 3 projection is not a rest-of-season drop signal. Hold Jacobs only if your bench can absorb the wait. |
| Stash | Bigsby, Johnson, Wilson, Gadsden | Pay for the next opportunity tree, not this week’s box score. |
| Monitor | Slayton, Ertz, Bagent | Wait for route assignment, elevation or concussion clearance. |
| Drop | Cooper Rush, Carson Wentz in one-QB | Confirmed starter changes removed the short-term path. |
Final Action Board
Boston or Coleman if either cleared. Ferguson is the preferred tight-end add; Schultz is the contingency-driven alternative.
Reclaim Puka, Collins, Flowers or Jacobs before chasing the 12th-best original waiver name.
Winston is the clear post-waiver quarterback add and a Week 3 QB12 against Tennessee.
Slayton, Ertz and the Houston receiver split need Wednesday evidence before aggressive spending.
The leftovers are still part of the meal
Waiver night awards the obvious players. Wednesday rewards the manager who checks what cleared, understands why it cleared and acts before the next practice report changes the price.
