Five Repair Plans Before Lineups Lock
Do not solve an injury by collecting another bench player. Match the replacement to the points, game window and roster spot you actually lost.

The urgent repairs are concentrated at quarterback. The Giants have ruled Jaxson Dart out for the rest of the regular season, while Chicago has two unresolved quarterbacks before a Monday game. At the other positions, restraint matters as much as action: Puka Nacua, Nico Collins, Zay Flowers, Jordan Mason and Dallas Goedert are holds, not panic drops.
Immediate Action Board
| Roster problem | Do this now | Deadline | Expected window | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jaxson Dart roster | Drop in redraft; hold in dynasty and use IR if eligible | Before adding a replacement | Regular season | High on status |
| Caleb Williams roster | Hold Williams; early QBs are locked; consider Mayfield only if still unlocked and available | Before the chosen Sunday QB locks | Week 3; reassess weekly | Moderate |
| Puka Nacua roster | Prepare to sit; secure a healthy replacement now. Hold; IR only if platform allows | Before healthy replacement locks | Week 3 planning | High on replacement planning |
| Bears pass catchers | Downgrade Odunze, Burden and Loveland for unresolved QB play; hold ROS | Friday/Saturday reports; Sunday alternatives | Week 3 | Low–Moderate |
| Jordan Mason / Dallas Goedert roster | IR where eligible; use a healthy bridge. Schultz is locked; Ferguson can bridge TE if available | Before the replacement locks | Injury dependent | Moderate |
QB: Drop Dart in Redraft; Price Winston’s Risk
Confirmed: Jaxson Dart is out for the rest of the regular season. Drop him in redraft. A redraft IR slot is better reserved for someone who can return during your fantasy season. Hold in dynasty and place him in IR if eligible; keeper rules can also justify retaining him. Do not offer Dart as valuable trade consideration in an ordinary redraft repair.
Depth chart: Jameis Winston was the Giants’ backup and is now the confirmed starter. Jake Haener is the practice-squad quarterback behind him. The earlier wording obscured that distinction.
Why Winston falls: His poor relief appearance supports caution, while a full preparation week can improve execution. The completed Sunday projection is 13.59 points, QB23, versus QB29 / 11.96 points on the prior published board. This is still a Superflex fallback, not a must-start in one-QB leagues. Confidence remains low.
Ordered repair: Among these alternatives, use Tyler Shough (18.73 points), Bryce Young (18.09), Baker Mayfield (16.45), then Jameis Winston (13.59). Cam Ward (11.78) now projects below Winston. Compare your actual available players; platform roster rates were not freshly verified.
Complete transaction: In 1QB, drop Dart and add/start the best available healthy alternative. In Superflex/2QB, add Winston when starting quarterbacks are scarce, but start him only if your other QB or eligible Superflex alternative projects worse. Do not pay a starter’s trade premium for an assumed rebound. A stronger trade repair is Stafford from a manager with surplus QB depth: offer an expendable WR3/RB3, and walk away if the deal costs more starting points than it replaces.
No-move branch: If the bench already has a healthy starter above Winston, use that player. Dynasty managers keep Dart. Review Winston after his first full start for accuracy, pass volume, turnovers and the offense’s intended rushing balance. ROS QB23 is retained as a provisional scarcity-based holding, not a weekly start instruction or a completed new ROS rebuild.
QB and Receivers: Chicago’s Risk Reaches the Whole Lineup
The patient: Caleb Williams is officially out Monday with a hamstring injury. Tyson Bagent returned to a full Saturday practice but remains questionable; Case Keenum is the alternate starter. Williams is a Week 3 sit and a redraft hold. Do not wait for Chicago in a one-quarterback league when a healthy Sunday starter is available.
Repair: Hold Williams and use the healthy Sunday replacement order above. Drop a second D/ST or expendable bench player to make room. In 1QB, do not trade a regular flex starter for one week of insurance. If your roster already has a healthy top option, make no move.
Pass-catcher adjustment: The conditional Tyson Bagent-start case rebuilds targets, catch rates and production across the offense. It is a weekly availability-driven forecast, not a declaration of a new healthy pecking order. Luther Burden III earns more projected target demand than Rome Odunze from the comparable usage and receiving-rate inputs; the order must change again if the underlying role evidence changes.
| Player | Sunday projection | Current Week 3 rank | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rome Odunze | 4.3 targets; 6.24 points | WR61 | Hold; compare healthy alternatives before their lock |
| Luther Burden III | 5.7 targets; 8.91 points | WR28 | Hold; compare healthy alternatives before their lock |
| Colston Loveland | 3.3 targets; 4.66 points | TE28 | Hold; compare healthy alternatives before their lock |
Duration and reversal: This is a Week 3 discount with Low–Moderate confidence. ROS talent values stay intact. Williams returning without a workload limit, or a cleared replacement showing stable volume and accuracy, would justify revisiting the inputs. Secure a Sunday option before its lock; do not leave yourself only an unavailable Monday replacement. Ferguson is preferable to Loveland when both are active; a weak waiver TE is not automatically better.
WR: Prepare to Sit Puka; Keep His Long-Term Value
Verified status: Puka Nacua is doubtful for Sunday night. Sit in lineup planning, secure a healthy replacement and hold his ROS value. Use IR only if your platform permits the designation. Doubtful is not confirmed OUT; only an official upgrade and normal-workload clearance reopen the start branch.
Model: The completed Nacua-out/Parkinson-active branch gives Davante Adams 8.9 targets, 17.49 points (WR3), and Terrance Ferguson 5.2 targets, 7.86 points (TE13). Team totals reconcile; Parkinson’s inactive report selects the next branch. No precise medical playing probability is assumed.
Complete repair: Start a healthy receiver already on your bench. Denzel Boston is a possible deeper option only if active and available in your league. Adonai Mitchell is inactive; he is not a Week 3 replacement. Tuesday roster percentages are stale, and fresh platform rates were not verified. Keep the best eligible healthy alternative rather than buying another injury question.
Trade/no-move branches: Do not sell Puka at an injury discount. Michael Pittman Jr. is active; consider him only at a price that improves your starting lineup. For an illustrative two-for-one, a bench RB plus bench WR for a usable WR opens one roster slot; fill it only after checking that the outgoing RB is not needed for a bye or injury. If your existing bench already supplies the points, hold resources. Reserve a late-game pivot only if you deliberately choose to wait and that player is active, position-eligible and unlocked.
WR: Collins and Flowers Need Healthy Points, Not Hope
The patients and urgency: Nico Collins is out; Zay Flowers is questionable after limited Friday practice. Sit Collins and hold him. For Flowers, preserve a healthy late-game option or use earlier healthy production. Collins moves WR65 → unranked, down for Week 3 versus Thursday 7:40 PM CT, solely because his play probability is zero. No new ROS tier change is asserted.
The low-cost repair: Start your best healthy bench receiver first. Rashod Bateman is a conditional option if Flowers sits and Bateman is active. Houston’s rebuilt tree places Dalton Schultz at TE2, Jaylin Noel at WR54 and Kayshon Boutte at WR55. Do not confuse projected opportunity with availability in your league.
The trade repair: Terry McLaurin is an illustrative bridge only if his current status and your league price fit. Michael Pittman Jr. is active. Offer expendable depth that addresses the counterparty's need; do not sell Collins or Flowers at a steep injury discount. A trade should improve your actual starting lineup after accounting for any required drop.
The complete transaction: Hold the injured receiver, start a healthy top-40 option, and cut the weakest conditional receiver when the starter returns. In shallow leagues, one bridge is enough; in best ball or deep formats, Bateman/Boutte can remain as contingent volume.
No-move branch: A team with adequate healthy receivers can hold its resources. Sunday inactives and expected workload determine the Flowers branch; Collins has no Week 3 start branch.
RB and TE: Use IR, Then Buy the Right Bridge
The patients and urgency: Jordan Mason is on injured reserve after thumb surgery, leaving Aaron Jones with the lead window through at least Week 5. Dallas Goedert is officially out Monday with an MCL sprain and no precise return date. Philadelphia added Zach Ertz to the practice squad, but an expected elevation is not a confirmed active role. Both injured players retain ROS value, but neither solves Week 3.
The low-cost repair: For Mason rosters, use a healthy bench back first. Coleman (Tuesday Yahoo 27%, ESPN 22%, Sleeper 36%) remained DNP Thursday; he is an injured stash, not a current-use bridge. Bigsby also appeared as a Thursday DNP. Neither should be offered as a ready-to-start replacement without clearance. For Goedert rosters, Schultz is the preferred add where available; Ferguson is another option; his ESPN rate was 27% Tuesday, with Yahoo/Sleeper unavailable in the verified snapshot. Schultz is active and now the higher-ranked TE option; prefer him if available. Ertz is excluded until elevation and an active role are confirmed.
The trade repair: Aaron Jones Sr. practiced fully Friday and has no game designation. Buy him only at an RB2—not workhorse—price because Mason’s eventual return can compress the role. Mark Andrews is the stronger TE solution, but do not pay above a top-five tight-end price while the Flowers opening is still temporary. A manager with two playable tight ends may accept a startable WR3 plus a bench TE.
The complete transaction: Place Mason or Goedert in IR where eligible, add the bridge, start Ferguson if active, or Schultz only after clearance and drop the lowest-upside bench WR. In a one-for-two trade, name that drop before accepting; in a two-for-one, use the opened spot on Coleman or a late-window pivot.
No-move branch: If Mason fits IR and you already start two top-24 backs, hold without chasing Jones. If your current tight end ranks above Ferguson’s TE13 weekly projection, keep Goedert on IR and preserve the bench spot.
The Complete Pivot Table
| Situation / status | Immediate repair | Backup | Trade alternative / maximum cost | Action | Deadline / checkpoint | Confidence | Change trigger |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jaxson Dart / Caleb Williams in 1QB | Shough and Young are locked; use an unlocked healthy QB | Mayfield if unlocked; Winston is no longer an early-game pivot | Stafford only for expendable bench depth | Drop Dart in redraft; hold Williams; start the best healthy QB | Sunday QB lock | Moderate | Starter availability or a material role change |
| Jaxson Dart in Superflex / 2QB | Healthy rostered starter; explore trade if needed | Winston only when stronger starters are unavailable | Pay for a stable starting QB, not a guaranteed Winston rebound | Add Winston for scarce starts; start only after comparing alternatives | Sunday noon CT | Low on Winston scoring | Accuracy, pass volume and turnovers in his first full start |
| Puka Nacua: DOUBTFUL | Healthy top-35 rostered WR | Healthy Denzel Boston if available; Mitchell inactive: do not use | Pittman only after clearance, at bench-depth price | Prepare to sit; hold; use IR only if eligible | Sunday replacement lock; official upgrade | Low | Full practice and explicit workload clearance |
| Nico Collins OUT / Zay Flowers QUESTIONABLE | Healthy rostered top-40 WR | Healthy Boston; Mitchell inactive: do not use; Bateman if Flowers sits | Healthy McLaurin; Pittman only if cleared, no injured-star discount | Hold; secure healthy points | Friday report / Sunday lock | Moderate | Official clearance with expected normal role |
| Jordan Mason / Dallas Goedert | Healthy bench RB; Ferguson at TE | Schultz is locked; Ferguson remains a later option; Coleman is not a Week 3 bridge | Jones at RB2 price; Andrews below elite-TE cost | IR where eligible; add a usable bridge | Before replacement lock | Moderate | Bridge injury report and sustained role |
Position-by-Position Close
Winston is a high-risk QB23 fallback. Prefer Shough, Young or Mayfield if available. Drop Dart in redraft; retain him in dynasty. Williams managers should bank healthy Sunday points rather than depend on an unresolved Monday branch.
IR Mason. Coleman and Bigsby need clearance; do not start either merely because a roster spot is open. Trade for Jones only at an RB2 price that accounts for a finite lead window.
Hold Nacua, Collins and Flowers. Start the healthy top-40 option; prepare to bench Nacua and obtain a healthy replacement. Odunze and Burden are downgraded while Chicago’s QB situation is unresolved.
Add Ferguson if needed; Schultz active; preferred if available. Loveland is downgraded to TE15. Treat Ertz as a monitor until elevation and route assignment are official.
Workbook: Revised statistical inputs, source notes and correction ledger. No full ROS rebuild was performed. Counterparty acceptance and waiver availability are never guaranteed.
Repair the lost function, not just the empty name
The best move replaces the points and game window your roster lost without sacrificing the injured player’s healthy value. Secure replacements before their own game windows close. A Monday contingency must still be eligible and available.
